yoga

The Sanskrit word yoga means union - union of environment, the senses, body, mind, and soul. This union is described in an ancient text known as the Yoga Sutras, written by the sage Patanjali who explains that yoga is the progressive settling down of the mind in the field of pure silence, which is usually overshadowed by the activity of the mind.

Last week my sister Anna invited me to her weekly yoga class- which was so wonderful- spending quality time with her practicing something we both enjoy... I have had a few different yoga teachers which has been very inspirational because everyone teaches it differently and I learn something new every time; one class that me and Anna took in Ft myers, Florida was bikram yoga (hot yoga) that I had been wanting to try- and how much fun and great was that; a memory we both will never forget (right Anna!?) I had to lay down for 15-20 minutes because it was so hot I thought I was going to faint! Yoga teaches you to do the best you can that day and that I can always take with me in anything I do...
I wanted to share Deepak Chopras' thoughts on yoga. He is such an inspiration when it comes to body, mind and spirit...

"Any reason for practicing yoga is a good reason. Enhancing flexibility and releasing stress are as noble a purpose for performing yoga as the awakening of spirituality. This is the great gift of yoga it serves and nourishes us at every level of our being and spontaneously contributes to greater well being in all domains of life. Yoga will help you discover gifts within yourself that have remained unopened since your childhood gifts of peace, harmony, laughter, and love."

Summer in Sweden

This summer has been full of little adventures! I have been going to the lake and the ocean more than ever- even though the weather has not always been great and the water not warm...I've loved playing and jumping in like a kid- soo much fun- and for the most part I've jumped in the water with a loved one- which makes it even more special...the morning dips have been fantastic! The one with my sister Anna at the "morning pier" in Torekov was amazing! And also the even colder dip with my friend Mia in Norjeboke was refreshing and fun! Have both in my memory bank!

bloom!

welcome to inside out! thanks to my lovely sister Anna, I am sitting here writing my first little words to you...

One of her inspirational blogs is Cupcakes and cashmere... she writes a quote, which I thought was so beautiful...by Pablo Neruda "Quiero hacer contigo lo que la primavera hace con los cerezos" which means

"I want to do with you what spring does to the cherry trees"

I can already feel this blog will be a wonderful way for me to get some thoughts and feelings down in writing...so maybe this will be like the spring for me! much love Linda
